Clarion - Long distance industrial data radio
Part Number  BE082

Definition

The Clarion is a wireless digital transceiver.  It transmits or receives data packets for remote sensing or control.  It may also function as a wireless low speed modem.  This eliminates the need for expensive, vulnerable cabling.  Clarion is suitable for outdoor installation.  It may be set up as Peer to Peer, or set up with one Clarion being the parent to several other children units.  Transmit power is 0.5W (27 dBm).  Range is 1 mile, line of sight, and 0.25 mile in typical industrial settings.  Clarion uses a proprietary protocol in the UHF band, using FM.  The unit may be battery powered and connects to any device that needs to communicate wirelessly.

Features
    1.  Bidirectional data transfer.
    2.  Low power, battery operation possible.
    3.  It is small, so that it fits discreetly in a location.
    4.  Received Signal Strength Indicator.
    5.  Multiple network topologies configurable.
    6.  Its short (ca. 2 in) integral antenna is adequate to meet the specs herein.  No additional antenna is necessary.
    7.  Multiple channels are supported, so multiple installations in one site are possible.
    8.  No additional FCC licensing is required.  This holds true also in Canada and Mexico.  For other countries, check with Basic Instruments.
