Definition
The Ranger is a rugged device for measuring the distance through air to any solid or liquid. Its beam is tightly focused, so surrounding walls and obstacles are avoided. Almost any kind of liquid, including foamy, can be used, as well as most solid particulates with differing pile characteristics. Distances to 25 feet (7.6 m) are possible. Dust, steam, fog are not a problem. Unlike some other distance meters, the Ranger is housed in a rugged metal enclosure and is heavily protected from electrical transients. It is designed for industrial use.
